He may be the most widely admired man in Pakistan, yet little is known about him abroad. Starting in 1951 with a free pharmacy in a poor neighborhood of Karachi, Pakistan, Abdul Sattar Edhi has inspired -- by deeds more than words -- the growth of the Edhi Foundation, a vast nationwide charitable organization that serves humanity "in the spirit of all religions," providing ambulance service, clinics, orphanages, asylums, shelters, mortuaries, hospitals, schools and kitchens staffed by thousands of volunteers and funded by private donors. Accepting a humanitarian award in 2000, Abdul Sattar Edhi said, “My greatest reward is the smile that flashes on the faces of suffering human beings, and the prize money of all these awards has always been utilized in spreading this smile. اسلام آباد 08 جولائي (اے پي پي) صدر مملکت آصف علي زرداري د عبدالستار ايدھي په تلين هغه ته په زړه پورې ډول د عقيدت پيرزوئنې وړاندې كولو سره وئيلي چې عبدالستار ايدھي د ټولو تفرقاتو څخه ځانله د انسانيت خذمت کړې۔د ګل په ورځ د ايوان صدر پرېس ونګ د اړخه جاري شوې بيان له مخې صدر مملکت ووئيل عبدالستار ايدھي ته د پاکستان او انسانيت لپاره په ځانګړې خذماتو پيرزوئنې وړاندې كوم۔ده ووئيل عبدالستار ايدھي د پاکستان د تاريخ تر ټولو لوئ انسان دوست شخصيت ؤ،هغه د سماجي خذمات په څانګه كښې د قدر وړ خذمات ترسره كړې دي او د نسل، مذهب، سماجي حيثيت پشمول ټولو امتيازات نه ځانله ئې د انسانيت خذمت کړې دې۔ صدر مملکت وئويل عبدالستار ايدھي په ټول هېواد كښې د روغتونونو ، يتيم خانو، پناہ ځايونو او د بحالۍ مرکزونو بنياد اېښودلې۔ صدر مملکت دعا اوكړه چې لوے څښتن دې عبدالستار ايدھي له لوړوې درجې وركړي۔
